Relating the magnetic coercivity to the L10 ordered FePd phase in annealed FexPd100-x nanoparticles

Abstract Rare-earth-free or iron-based permanent nanomagnets are emerging as promising candidates for energy-conversion and information technologies. In this interest, Fe x Pd 100-x nanoparticles ( = 50, 55, 60, 63) were prepared from iron acetate palladium by sonoelectrodeposition. After annealing the at various temperatures 450 to 700 °C 1 h, structural changes observed, samples exhibit hard magnetic properties that depend strongly on chemical composition temperature. The major phase in as-prepared has a disordered face-centered cubic structure, which, upon annealing, transforms into multi-phase material containing L1 0 ordered FePd phase. fractions of different phases present annealed samples, including functions temperature, quantified means X-ray diffraction scanning transmission electron microscopy. Magnetic measurements show desirable 550–600 °C. A correlation between coercivity fraction is established first time nanoparticles.
